Zorrie Petrus is a photographer, multidisciplinary artist, and podcast host born and raised in Los Angeles. During her upbringing Zorrie was exposed to various art forms. Photography, music, and filmmaking stood out. To continue her passions, Zorrie attended New York University Tisch School of the Arts where she obtained a Bachelors in Fine Arts to further pursue photography while gaining the necessary tools to succeed. During her time in Tisch Zorrie has grown as an artist focusing her work more on black identity and aesthetics. Memory, set design, and creating meaningful projects has been integral in creating new work. Learning about art history has been pivotal in Zorrie’s artistic style while being inspired by artists who look like her that came before. Zorrie wants to continue to tell black stories, collaborate with fellow artists, and provide a perspective that is not always given a platform. Moving forward with her career, Zorrie will be working in all her favorite mediums while continuing to learn as much as she can when creating the art she wants to cultivate.
